[ARCHIVED] 1/6/2017 - City Taking Necessary Steps to Prepare for Winter Weather

GREENVILLE, SC - In preparation for winter weather forecasted for this weekend, the City’s Public Works Department will pre-treat bridges and overpass surfaces today and tomorrow. Parking will not be permitted on Main Street from the Hyatt block to Fluor Field beginning Friday at 11:30 p.m. through Saturday at 8 a.m. in order to allow crews to remove any snow that has accumulated.

Depending on the amount and type of precipitation, crews will work off an established priority list of locations to clear and treat if necessary. The list includes the 35 bridges located within the city limits, major thoroughfares with steep grades, parking garage entrances and major intersections. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution if they must travel on icy roads and to treat intersections without functioning traffic signals as all-way stops.

Greenlink public transportation is monitoring the weather forecast, and will make a determination about the Saturday bus service on Friday.
