[ARCHIVED] Greenville County Square Now a Permanent Trolley Park-and-Ride

Downtown Trolley

Greenville County Square has been added as a permanent, designated stop on the downtown trolley route, giving passengers the option of parking at County Square while they enjoy downtown shopping, dining and entertainment. A trolley stop sign is installed in the County Square parking lot near Howe Street for passenger boarding.

“Greenville County Square has been used as park-and-ride during baseball season and during Fall For Greenville for several years,” said Kathy Vass, Greenlink Manager of Development and Marketing. “We receive many additional requests throughout the year, so we explored the idea with county officials for making Greenville County Square a permanent trolley park-and-ride location, and they readily agreed.”

Located at 301 University Ridge, Greenville County Square houses the offices of Greenville County government. The property has 1,565 parking spaces.

"The downtown trolley hours of operation on Thursday and Friday nights, and on Saturdays and Sundays don’t conflict with parking lot usage during normal office hours at County Square so the park-and-ride is a nice fit,” said Greenville County spokesman Bob Mihalic. “The park-and-ride is a natural extension of our partnership with Greenlink and a great example of the air quality improvement efforts that the County promotes and encourages.”

Owned and operated by Greenville Transit Authority/Greenlink, the downtown trolleys operate year round on Thursdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. The fare-free trolleys are the result of a public-private partnership between Greenlink, the City of Greenville and The Greenville Drive.
