Jan Cox, community programs manager for the City of Greenville’s Parks & Recreation Department, received the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association’s (SCRPA) Professional of the Year Award at the 73rd annual SCRPA Conference held in Greenville this week. According to SCRPA, the award is presented each year to recognize a member of outstanding moral character and professional stature who has rendered exceptional service and/or accomplishments to the leisure service industry, has demonstrated leadership in the organization and in the community and has actively promoted the recreation/athletic field.

Jan received a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and tourism management from Clemson University in 1987 and a master’s degree in parks, recreation and tourism management from Clemson in 2002.
