Environmental Engineering Projects

The City’s environmental engineering staff plans, designs and manages capital improvement projects, including storm and sewer infrastructure projects.

Reedy STREAMBANK WORK COMPLETED 

Two months ahead of schedule the City completed Reedy River stream stabilization project in five separate locations. 

"We were very glad to complete these streambank stabilization projects ahead of schedule and get in front of the spring growing season," Interim City Engineer Paul Dow said. "Healthy root systems are key to stable streambanks, so we need everyone’s help in this final stage. Please stay off the matting!"

The riverbank repairs included:

  • Andover area of the Swamp Rabbit Trail: grading and stabilization of approximately 150 feet of eroded streambank adjacent to the Swamp Rabbit Trail with geolifts and native plants. A small portion of the trail was replaced as part of this work. 
  • Upper Cleveland Park Site: grading and stabilization of approximately 150 feet of eroded streambank with a floodplain bench and native plants.  
  • Lower Cleveland Park Site: grading and stabilization of approximately 50 feet of eroded streambank adjacent to the Swamp Rabbit Trail with geolifts and native plants.
  • Lower Falls Park Site: grading and stabilization of approximately 50 feet of eroded streambank with geolifts and native plants.
  • Upper Falls Park Site: grading and stabilization of approximately 200 feet of eroded streambank downstream from the Main Street Bridge with stone boulder toe armoring.
