Historic Resources Survey

The City hired consulting firm WLA Studio to identify historically significant properties citywide and focusing on the following areas: West End, Village of West Greenville, Greater Sullivan, Cleveland Park, Nicholtown, North Main, Augusta Road, Sherwood Forest and Parkins Mill.

The Historic Resources Survey — conducted in May and June of 2017 — focused on structures built between 1945 and 1975. The goal of the project was to identify properties that are eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as for potential historic designation locally.

Beginning in late May, the consultant team toured the areas on foot to look for properties that appear to fit the criteria. Then, they gathered information such as the date of construction, exterior architectural details and style and historically significant owners/events.
